Act Now Community Eco Fair at Acomb Parish Hall, Front Street, Acomb
Everyone in Acomb and beyond is welcome to pop along to our Community Eco Fair to see stalls, have a drink and chat, listen to talks or take part in a workshop. There are so many wonderful initiatives taking place locally on environmental issues and this year we are delighted to be joined by some fantastic local green enterprises, charities and groups.

YORK COMMUNITY ENERGY
The independent, volunteer-run social enterprise, York Community Energy will be on hand to discuss energy and climate issues in the York area. They will be offering advice, support and services to help reduce the energy needs of your home.
FAIRER WORLD
Fairer World York will be represented by members of St Stephen's Church and will be selling a range of fabulous Fair Trade and eco products from well known brands including Zaytoun, Cheeky Panda and Thought Socks.
YORK CYCLE CAMPAIGN
York Cycle Campaign will be sharing their priorities for York to be a safe, convenient and accessible for cycling. This includes designing safety into roads and cycle routes, making cycling around York enjoyable and encouraging everyone, regardless of age, experience, or disability to be able to cycle around the city.
YORKSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will be available to talk to you about local nature reserves Askham Bog, Moorlands, Strensall Common and Wheldrake Ings. YWT is a charity dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring wildlife and wild places in Yorkshire. They will be sharing their vision for a Yorkshire that is abundant in wildlife, with more people having a genuine and meaningful connection with nature.
RSPB YORK LOCAL GROUP
The RSPB York Local Group will share their extensive programme of indoor and outdoor meetings and their role in promotional and fundraising activities locally and regionally. Come and chat to them and meet friendly, like-minded people in the York area while learning more about birds and wildlife.
YOGA
York Organic Gardening Association (YOGA) will be offering helpful advice on how to make minimal use of chemicals in your garden, relying only on manures and fertilizers derived from animal or plant remains.
SCHOOL KITCHEN
School Kitchen will be providing refreshments on the day. School Kitchen is an exciting new takeaway food service that has partnered with Carr Junior School to take over their kitchens on evenings and weekends, outside of school hours to run a home delivery takeaway. They install solar panels at the schools they work with, use bicycles and electric mopeds for deliveries and ensure that all packaging is recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
FRIENDS OF ST STEPHEN'S CHURCHYARD
Find out about the newly formed Friends of St Stephen's Churchyard and how they are working to create green corridors and celebrate the rich biodiversity on church land.
JENNY KENT
Jenny Kent is the Labour Councillor for Holgate. She will be on hand until 12pm to answer your questions about transport, environmental policies and green corridors.
ITRAVEL YORK
iTravel York will be on hand to chat to you about travelling around York. Operated by the City of York Council, iTravel York is a fantastic resource packed with useful information for planning your journey. Get advice on walking, cycling, and using buses in the city.
FRIENDS OF FISHPONDS WOOD
Come and see what Friends of Fishponds Wood are doing to look after their own green space in Acomb.
TAYLORS OF ACOMB
Our very own eco and weigh shop in the heart of Acomb, Taylors will be showcasing their fabulous range of products and will be giving out samples.
